1950's Howdy Doody & Clarabell Piano Band
Tin Windup Toy by Marx Linemar Company
Offered for sale is a rare 1950's Howdy Doody and Clarabell Piano Band Tin Wind up toy.
Made by the Marx / Linemar Toy Company. Along the side of the toy is marked 'Copr. Kagran Corp.' with the 'Line Mar Toys Japan' logo. Base of toy measures 4x5 inches, and 5.75 inches to the top of Howdy Doody's head. Toy is fully working, when wound, and turning the lever switch on (to the right side of Clarabell), Howdy starts dancing, bouncing up and down while Clarabell moves around to simulate playing the piano. Excellent lithography all around. This toy was made only briefly in the 1950's, and significantly more rare then the Unique Art Toy version of Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob playing at the piano, also made in the 1950's.
Condition
:
The toy is in overall very good, original condition. Toy is fully working and both figures are original with no replaced parts. There is some lighter scattered wear spots, mostly confined to the red/white floor area, and on Clarabell as shown. The windup key appears to be a newer substitute. A scarce toy that is rarely offered for sale.
