    Description

This original 1914 French Lithograph Travel Poster is of a rare destination from early in the career of the very prolific Constant Léon Duval (1877-1956). From 1910 until the nationalization of the French railways in 1937, Constant Duval created many posters for the competing companies' destinations. The Chemin de Fer D'Orleans company owned a line in south central France that ran through the Lot Valley, home to dramatic cliff-top villages, and was a popular tour destination. He deploys his landscape talents to highlight the natural sites accessible through the railway. He is one of the most sought-after illustrators of this period for this type of poster.
