Availability: 100 in stock
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan
  • All returns accepted: ReturnsNotAccepted
  • Vintage: Yes
  • Modified Item: No
  • Condition: The toy is in really good condition considering it's age. Graphics are great. The winding-arm turns the propeller. It does not build up a reserve of power and work while not winding it. The colors on the box are still bright and pop. However there are 4 small holes on the top of the box. One is in the "O" of FRICTION. The other 3 are below the "T" of NAUTILUS in the sky and 2 on the submarine. Caused by the winding not being laid flat. The right hand corner is torn. The tear extends to the nose of the sub. There is also a tear in the right hand end piece. Despite the holes and tears, there do not seem to be any missing pieces of the box. Three and a half of the original staples are still there, although they are rusted. 4 holes are poked through the under box. The name Patrick in ink (faded) above the iceberg. The toy is sold "as is" and the pictures form a part of the description. There are no replacement items or parts in this toy. Everything is 100% original and authentic.

    Description

This toy is being listed as it was originally sold together with a boxed and complete Yonezawa Space Robot Car and a second unboxed
Yonezawa Space Robot Car missing one arm
. I sent pictures of ALL of the above toys to a site in Florida that
describes itself as a museum and
who offers free APPRAISALS. The guy in charge claims to be an expert at this and also say that he act as an advisor to American Pickers on the History Channel.  The boxed space toy AND the one with the missing arm were appraised by him at between 00 and 00. I was offered 00 for the pair, with no interest being expressed in the submarine. Another buyer in the Netherlands offered me more. Upon hearing this, the appraiser then "found" a member who was interested in purchasing all 3 toys. We finally ended up at a price of 00 for the boxed toy and 00 for the other 2 toys (unboxed space robot with missing arm and submarine). The buyer asked for me to ship the boxed complete space toy first, saying that on good arrival he would pay for and receive the second consignment. I triple boxed the toy with plenty bubble wrap and was thanked by the buyer for the care I took. I also quoted and offered insurance, but the buyer refused. UNFORTUNATELY, some brute at customs in London's Heathrow airport opened the parcel and ripped the seam of the box. The buyer blamed me for bad packing. He said that his "member" / buyer had pulled out of the deal and intimated that the whole worth of the toy was in the box. He said that he now stood to lose a lot of money on the contract. He, in my opinion, aggresively or threateningly pointed out that if I took the parcel back it would be taxed coming back to me and he would ship it the way it was received without careful packing. I was stuck and offered a discount of 0 which was accepted. However, he refused to honor the balance of the contract. So I got with this submarine and the robot toy with the missing left arm. I then see that the buyer then posted an appraisal of the toy at 00! He said only 1 of 4 known to exist in the world! and then he listed and sold the item at 00. He is a CROOK and I would suggest not selling to him!
    My questions are the following:
Are they really appraising toys or is it a ploy to buy toys? Did he all of a sudden find out it was so rare?
Do they undervalue in order to purchase cheaply? Could he, in all honesty, have been so far out in his appraisal?
Was there really a "member" of his museum who wanted to buy the toy? Did that person pull out even though he would have ended up paying about 30% of the current valuation given by the buyer?
Was the intention always there not to go through with the second portion of the deal? On the boxed toy the buyer actually paid 0 less than the other buyer had offered, but as he was going to take the second, damaged space toy and the submarine, the overall deal was better for me. So in fact if he does not honor the second portion of the deal I am out of pocket by 0 (the 0 cheaper than the other buyer plus the discount I had to give to get the PayPal payment released).
The buyer then created a whole narrative saying that the toy was bought from the original owner (it was not) with a whole story about brothers and Xmas gifts that was a total fabrication.
I am not upset that the toy is worth more. I understand that a museum would want to buy at a good price or that a reseller needs to make a profit. What peeves me is that I was lied to. The appraisal was either dishonest or the person giving it was incompetent. I was bargained down even though the deal as it originally stood was a great deal. And he will not honor the rest of the deal.
If anyone wants more information on the above, I am happy to do so confidentially.
Should you require additional pictures, please just ask. Also specify of what and I will be more than happy to post.
Shipping via DHL at cost. The dimesnsions of the toy box are 40cm x 12cm x 9cm. To be safely boxed I will need a minimum of about 42cm x 14cm x 12cm at a minimum. I estimate this will be around US . The site does not allow me to put in a variable rate, so I will put in for international shipping but will charge the ACTUAL RATE to your location via DHL or your preferred shipper. Also I have the option to add insurance at 1% of the value of the toy, for the Buyer's account.
    GOOD BIDDING AND GOOD LUCK!!
